Business Studies

The Business Department consists of three full time and two part time experienced and enthusiastic Business specialists.  All our staff teach across the age and ability range commencing in Year 9.  We have a strong team ethos within the department and all staff contribute to the development of strategies to raise attainment and achievement.

All Business teaching rooms have full suites of computers, which supports the Department's use of ICT resources, and they are well equipped with interactive whiteboards and data projectors.  All teaching rooms are located in the Red Block.

Students in Year 9, 10 and 11 follow either AQA Business Studies GCSE or BTEC First Award at Level 1/2.  Examination results are consistently good (74% A*-C at GCSE, 100% in BTEC and 92% A*-B at A Level) and well above national averages.  Currently there are over 300 students following Key Stage 4 courses. In the Sixth Form we offer Business Studies at A Level and a BTEC Level 3 qualification.  Approximately 80 students are currently following Key Stage 5 courses.  At both Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, students are taught in mixed ability groups.

We encourage students to extend and strengthen their business understanding beyond the classroom.  Extra curricular activities are regularly arranged and a number of business links exist.
