Major Road Works - Rein Road

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT WOODKIRK ACADEMY

On Tuesday 5 September, the Academy will reopen to students following what has been, hopefully, an enjoyable summer for you as a family.

Yr7                          - 8.30am start;
Yr12                        - 9.30am start;
Yr8 / 9 / 10 / 11 /13 - 11.05am start. Students should be in school and ready to attend Form Time by 11.05am.

As outlined on the Acdemy’s website, please note that Leeds City Council Highways Services are undertaking a major footpath maintenance scheme on Rein Road.

The work is scheduled to take 12 weeks consisting of footway, kerbing and drainage works prior to carriageway resurfacing.  As such, the whole of Rein Road is subject to a one way system with no access from Dewsbury Road for any vehicles until November 2017. Vehicular access to school can only be gained via Britannia Road / Tingley Common.

Pedestrian access will be available at all times, however, there is still significant disruption for pedestrians during the maintenance period.  Given the major road improvement scheme, the Highways Services have made a strong request for no parking on the carriageway during the works. This does mean that the whole length of Rein Road is no longer available for parents to wait for their child which includes the collection of students. Please also be aware there is limited parking within the grounds of Woodkirk Academy.

We are sure you can imagine how easily this area will become congested and we would suggest that, during this period, either car-share schemes or alternative method of travel for your son/daughter (should they travel by car), be found.

Please also find below a map which directs road users to the current entrance to Rein Road. In addition, the disruption to the school bus / service buses which serve Woodkirk Academy has been added below.

Any queries, please contact the Highways Helpline 0113 2224407. Should there be any updates given by Leeds City Council, we shall inform parents via the website and email (eNewsletter).

- L53 from Morley, in the normal direction. The same for the afternoon ;

48A is not affected as this bus only runs on an evening and is still going to come down Rein Road.

205 in the morning, this bus will be dropping off students at the main bus stop by the Black Bull which results in a short walk up Rein Road.  After school, Arriva state that this service will travel down Rein Road and collect students from the grounds of the school whilst the bus stop is out-of-service.
