Maths Funday 2023

Earlier this week, Woodkirk Academy held its annual fundraising event, Maths Funday, promoting its core values of Being Kind, Working Hard and Taking Responsibility. As a member of Leodis Academies Trust, students from Blackgates, East Ardsley, Hill Top and Westerton were also invited to take part in a fun-filled day.

Woodkirk Academy Sixth Form students worked hard to organise a range of activities.  These included raffles and tombola, sponge a teacher, face painting and many more. A staggering £8,256.12 was raised for two chosen causes: Woodkirk Academy Summer School and Motor Neurone Disease Association.

The Summer School offers a full week of secondary school transition to support some Year 6 students moving into secondary school life at Woodkirk Academy. Students experience a full week of activities that are aimed at supporting them to make the most challenging leap from primary school to secondary school. This year’s theme will be based on ‘Survival’, from outdoor survival skills, healthy lifestyle survival to survival during the early stages of transition.

The Academy would like to express its gratitude to the many local businesses and individuals who have supported school events throughout the year.  Please click here for details.
