Woodkirk Academy have yet again been working extremely hard
over the last few months preparing for their annual Musical production which
this year is Ghost the Musical. The show runs every night in the Academy hall
from Tuesday 15 March until Saturday 19 March commencing at 7pm. Tickets are available by contacting the
Academy reception and are priced at £9.50 for adults and £6 for concessions.
This year’s show has proved extremely challenging for both staff and students due to the extremely technical demands within the show. For the first time, students are being challenged to perform live magic tricks and the technical crew have over sixty video projections onto a huge screen which enhances and adds to the excitement and enjoyment of the show. The famous film is brought to life from screen to stage and captures the romantic love story of Sam and Molly with the iconic Unchained Melody coupled with show stopping numbers written by Dave Stewart (from the Eurythmics) and Glen Ballard. The Academy are delighted to provide the live music from very talented music students from within the school.
Students and staff have been working very hard together as a team from September 2015 to maintain the reputation the Academy gets from their outstanding shows. Students and staff gave up a weekend to rehearse at York Racecourse. This provided ample opportunity for the cast to get to know one another, and work closely with the band. Despite the challenges it has been yet another amazing experience for both the cast and the production team.
